Bright Spot: Dads Take Your Child to School Day

Rochester, N.Y. - Tuesday's Bright Spot shines on fathers taking their kids to school.

More than 275 fathers and father figures from Longridge Elementary School participated in the National Dads Take Your Child to School Day on Tuesday.

Fathers will walk or driver their children to the K-5 school and stay for breakfast.

While at school, they'll learn about the importance of reading with children at home and doing homework together. They will be hearing from East High School Superintendent Shaun Nelms, who will address the importance of strong parental support.

Research has shown that kids who have involved fathers have a high performance at school, as well as improved behavior and social skills.

This event is being sponsored by the Longridge PTA.
