Bright Spot: Run for Amanda

Updated: Thursday, May 22 2014, 07:04 PM EDT

Thursday's Bright Spot shines on a "run for Amanda."

Kara Baer is preparing for her first marathon this weekend.

Baer had always planned to run it with her cousin, Amanda Crow, but Amanda was killed in a car accident a year and a half ago.

Amanda's mom tells 13WHAM that Amanda loved god, kids, and penguins and that's why they established "Amanda’s Penguins" at the Seneca Park Zoo in her memory.

Kara's run in Buffalo will raise money for the zoo memorial fund.

Amanda was also an organ donor and her family wanted 13WHAM to pass along the importance of organ donation.
