A high note for food vendors at the jazz festival

Updated: Tuesday, June 24 2014, 05:37 AM EDT

Rochester, N.Y. - Heading into day five of the Xerox Rochester International Jazz Festival, food vendors say business has been good and they only anticipate getting better.

Most say, it's too soon to tell in terms of revenue how well they're doing.

They won't know that until the end of the festival but so far, some can see some noticeable differences compared to last year, all crediting a good weekend start.

"It's been like the perfect storm in Rochester," said Tony Simone, owner of Tony Tomatoes Tuscan Wood Fired Pizza. "The weather's been beautiful, temperatures been right and we've had a record amount of pizza I sold this year."

Simone, who set up his food truck on Jazz Street last year, says he's sold slightly more than 325 pizzas so far this year.

The Meatball Truck Co. is making its first appearance at the jazz festival this year.

"We average about 8,000 meatballs for the week and we sell about 2,000 a day on Friday and Saturday and we're expecting the last day, the next Saturday to be huge," owner Matt Petrillo said.
