Many Voices, Many Visions "Champions for Change/Teen Suicide Prevention"

This week we meet the West family of Rochester. The three West children are some of our area's youngest social change agents and entrepreneurs. We'll learn how they're making a difference in the lives of refugee children. We'll also hear from their parents about the family's tradition of selflessness.

During the second half of the show we discuss teen suicide. It's a sensitive subject but the reality is that it's a growing problem in our community. The Centers for Disease Control says twice the number of children nationally between the ages of 10 and 14 died by suicide in 2014 than in 2007. Suicide is now the number one cause of death of middle schoolers. 13WHAM's Ginny Ryan recently did a special report on the issue. During the show we'll speak to Amy Scheel-Jones, Chief of Planning for the Monroe County Office of Mental Health.
