11 people dead from flu in Monroe County
Rochester, N.Y. (WHAM) - Since the Monroe County Health Department started recording flu cases this winter, eleven people have died as a result of influenza.
In the report released Monday, the number of cases of influenza are still increasing as of February 10.
Since the previous week of reporting, there have been 697 new confirmed cases of the flu. In three of those cases, people died.
The Monroe County Health Department said it has seen 3,715 confirmed cases of the flu. Of those, 3,003 are flu A and 711 are flu B.
Of those, 758 people have been hospitalized.
All eleven deaths have been ages 50 or older. Under federal law, the number of people diagnosed with the flu who also received flu shots cannot be disclosed. Vaccination records fall under HIPPA.
