What's Going Around - Week of Feb. 11, 2018
(WHAM) - Here's what's going around for the week of February 11, 2018.
Dr. Carolyn Stern with UR Medicine Urgent Care in Henrietta is treating the flu, ear infections and strep throat.
For prevention and care of strep throat, patients should wash their hands often for at least 20 seconds. Dr. Stern recommends saying the ABCs twice to cover that time.
When kids are done being treated for the illness, parents should wash all of their bedding and throw out toothbrushes. Do not share cell phones, drinking glasses or utensils.
Dr. David Carlson with UR Medicine Urgent Care in Newark is treating upset stomachs.
Dr. Carlson warns that viral gastroenteritis is highly contagious, so you should wash glasses, dishes and utensils in hot, soapy water to limit its spread. Also, do not share water bottles.
Your doctor or healthcare provider can give you the best advice.
