What's Going Around - Week of January 14, 2018
(WHAM) - Here is what's going around for the week of January 14, 2018.
Dr. David Carlson from UR Medicine Urgent Care in Farmington has been treating patients who have slipped and fallen.
Dr. Carlson said with sun during the midday, black ice forms and is hidden by snowfall at night - just in case you weren't sure how black ice forms.
To prevent yourself from falling, wear appropriate footwear for the season and hang onto those railings.
Dr. Carolyn Stern with UR Medicine Urgent Care in Henrietta has been treating dry skin, eczema and dermatitis-like infections.
Dr. Stern said many bacteria and viruses thrive in the seasonal dry air and flourish in lower humidity levels. Try to keep the humidity in your home between 40 and 50 percent.
Drink adequare amounts of liquid and, unless you work up a sweat, try not to shower every single day. Keep your showers short, as well.
Your doctor or healthcare provider can give you the best advice.
