(WHAM) - Here is what's going around for the week of January 7, 2018.

Dr. David Carlson from UR Medicine Urgent Care in Farmington has been treating cases of the flu.

Dr. Carlson said if you have flu symptoms, get plenty of rest and stay hydrated. For fever and muscle aches, acetaminophen is your best option. Antibiotics cannot help you fight the flu.

Dr. Carolyn Stern from UR Medicine Urgent Care in Henrietta is seeing patients for bronchitis.

Dr. Stern said when a healthcare provider tells you that you have bronchitis, it means the biggest symptoms will be a cough for about five days, along with congestion and a headache.

Some over-the-counter medications might be helpful, but Dr. Stern said to be sure to read the label for appropriate dosage - especially for children.

Some medicines will help to suppress the cough, but only time will fully cure it.

As always, your doctor or healthcare provider can give you the best advice.
