What's Going Around - Week of July 2, 2017
Here is what's going around for the week of July 2, 2017.
Dr. Carolyn Stern from UR Medicine Urgent Care in Henrietta is seeing cases of swimmer's ear.
Dr. Stern said if you get water in your ears, you can use a few drops of rubbing alcohol in your ear to help dry them out. Remember: do not put Q-Tips or cotton swabs into your ear canal.
Dr. Stern said she is also seeing more case of poison ivy. Avoid plants that have three leaves at all costs and try to wash off the oils as soon as possible if you do come into contact with them.
Calamine lotion can help to relieve itching and dry out the rash, while antihistamines can help with the itching as well.
Your doctor or healthcare provider can give you the best advice.
