What's Going Around - Week of March 25, 2018
(WHAM) - Here is what's going on for the week of March 25, 2018.
Dr. David Carlson with UR Medicine Urgent Care in Newark is treating pink eye.
Dr. Carlson said it is most often caused by a virus and is highly contagious. Anti-biotic drops don't work, so pay careful attention to handwashing and avoid touching the infected eye to stop it from spreading.
Dr. Carolyn Stern with UR Medicine Urgent Care in Henrietta is treating cuts.
If it is bleeding, apply pressure with a clean bandage, clean towel or wash cloth.
Dr. Stern wants people to be sure you flush the wound with plenty of water. Once it is rinsed out, apply either anti-biotic ointment or use Vaseline from a brand new package. After this process, apply a bandage.
Do not use hydrogen peroxide.
As always, your doctor or healthcare provider can give you the best advice.
