Group wants to limit access to pain killers

Updated: Tuesday, December 10 2013, 08:10 AM EST

U.S. - There's a new call from doctors to tighten restrictions on prescription painkillers.

The American College of Physicians says abuse is fueling drug overdoses and deadly car crashes.

Proposed changes would make it tougher to get prescription drugs including Oxycontin and Vicodin as well as prescription sleep aides.

The group is calling on doctors to look at other options before giving patients potentially addictive pills.
