Rearchers conduct study on overweight children

Updated: Friday, July 25 2014, 06:04 PM EDT

Buffalo, N.Y. – A study conducted by researchers at the University of Buffalo found that overweight and obese preschoolers lose more weight when their parents lose weight.

Researchers recruited nearly 100 children between the ages of 2 and 5 years old for the study.

The study found children who were treated at the same time as a parent experienced more appropriate weight gain while growing normally in height.

Parents who were involved in the treatment lost an average of 14 pounds.
