Teen develops iPhone Stethoscope

Updated: Thursday, July 10 2014, 09:35 PM EDT

A 15-year-old boy from Washington has combined two very different pieces of technology, the stethoscope and an iPhone.

Suman Mulumundi has created the "steth IO".

With the help of 3D software, doctors can see, hear, and record heartbeats.

He says with so many iPhone's in the world, this could become a life-saving device that anyone can use even without a doctor.

Mulumundi is currently waiting for FDA approval and funding to mass produce the product.
