Former RPD Chief Sheppard to announce mayoral decision
Rochester, N.Y. (WHAM) - Former Rochester Police Chief James Sheppard said Monday he will announce a decision this weekend about his candidacy for mayor of Rochester.
Last month, Sheppard said he was exploring a run for the position and would announce his decision later.
Sheppard served as Rochester's police chief from November 2010 until December 2013 and has been the 23rd Legislative District's representative in southeast Rochester and northeast Brighton for the Monroe County Legislature.
Former TV reporter and NYS Assembly candidate Rachel Barnhart also released a statement on Twitter Monday morning, stating her exploratory committee will "conclude its work shortly" about a decision regarding a run for the mayor's office.
