Mayor Warren easily elected to second term as Rochester mayor
Rochester, N.Y. (WHAM) - Lovely Warren handily won a second term as Mayor of the City of Rochester Tuesday night.
Warren, the Democratic incumbent, defeated four other challengers by a wide margin.
Republican Tony Micciche came in second, followed by James Sheppard, who was running on the Working Families party line after a loss to Warren in the Democratic primary. Green Party candidate Alex White and Independent Lori Thomas rounded out the last two candidates.
All four other opponents combined could not match Warren's total.
Warren praised the work of Democrats across Monroe County, who won in a sweeping measure across the ballot Tuesday.
"The Democratic party didn't just win here in Monroe County," Warren told a cheering crowd after her win. "We won in Virginia and New Jersey. All across the United States of America, We won because good hard-working people like all of you are sick of politics of division and exclusion. And no voters were more loyal to our ideals as Democrats than the party in the city of Rochester."
