Rochester native Steve Gadd earns Grammy nomination
Rochester, N.Y. (WHAM) - A Rochester native was nominated for a Grammy Tuesday morning.
The Steve Gadd Band's instrumental album Way Back Home: Live From Rochester, NY was nominated for Best Contemporary Instrumental Album.
The record was released on the BFM Jazz label.
Gadd is a world-renowned drummer whose band has played around the globe. He graduated from Eastridge High School in Irondequoit and attended the Eastman School of Music before playing with several bands, including Frank Sinatra, Joe Cocker, James Taylor and the Bee Gees.
The band played the Xerox Rochester International Jazz Festival in 2015 to a sold-out crowd at the Eastman Kodak Hall.
Gadd was named a charter inductee into the Rochester Music Hall of Fame in 2011.
The Grammys will be presented on February 12, 2017 at 8 p.m.
