Rochester, N.Y. - State Senator Joe Robach proposed a state law to guarantee Kodak retirees will have health insurance.
Robach said health benefits are a top concern that he's heard from retirees.
Under his proposal, any retired person in New York who is ineligible for Medicare and who lost employer sponsored health coverage during their retirement would be eligible for the Healthy NY . People 65 and older are eligible for Medicare coverage.
"Retirees are worried that sooner or later, they will be without the health care benefits that they previously received from Kodak," Robach said. "This legislation will help put these retirees at ease by providing them a safety net and making them eligible for Healthy NY program."
Healthy NY includes health benefits that cover essential health needs including inpatient and outpatient hospital services, physician services, maternity care, preventative health services, diagnostic and x-ray services, and emergency services.
