One arrested for attack in Benghazi

Updated: Tuesday, June 17 2014, 06:07 PM EDT

Benghazi – A major victory for the U.S. as Special Forces and the FBI capture a key suspect, and the alleged ringleader in the 2012 attack in Benghazi, Libya. The arrest is the first by the U.S. in the connection with the attack.

Ahmed Abu Khatalla was surrounded and caught Sunday when he was travelling in a car near Benghazi and taken aboard a Navy ship in the Mediterranean Sea where he will be questioned.

President Obama had a message for the world about the arrest, Tuesday.

“When Americans are attacked, no matter how long it takes, we will find those responsible and bring them to justice,” President Obama said.

President Obama’s administration has faced criticism over its failure to capture anyone involved in the attack that killed four Americans, including U.S. Ambassador Chris Stevens.

“Sometimes things take longer than we’d like them to, but they never go into an inactive bin,” FBI director James Comey said.

House Republicans have still launched a special committee to investigate the attack in Benghazi and want top administration officials to testify under oath.
