Heavy police presence at Marketplace Mall: False call

Updated: Thursday, August 15 2013, 11:10 AM EDT

Henrietta, N.Y. – The heavy police presence at Marketplace Mall Wednesday afternoon was a false call.

Two separate 911 calls were made about a man with a bulletproof vest and a gun walking into the mall around 2 p.m.

When Sheriff’s deputies arrived, it became evident that the man was an armored truck driver transporting money for Loomis.

Marketplace Mall released the following statement:

“On Tuesday, July 17th, a shopper called 911 after mistakenly identifying a Loomis Fargo security guard performing a routine stop at The Marketplace Mall. The Monroe County Sheriff’s Department responded accordingly. At no time was there a threat to mall shoppers.”
