Gates, N.Y. -- Monroe County Sheriff’s Office is investigating after a tractor trailer was possibly struck by a bullet.
Police said the driver of the tractor trailer was heading south on 390 around 10:00 a.m. when he heard a noise and then saw a hole in the rear window of his rig.
The driver pulled over and called 911.
At 2 p.m. Thursday, Monroe County Sheriff Captain David Inzana held a news conference to update the media on the investigation.
“We’re still doing a line search, we have deputies and troopers on foot, walking the area and looking for evidence,” Captain David Inzana said.
He explained that the driver of the tractor trailer heard a bang, and investigators estimate he was under the trestle at Buffalo Road Bridge at the time. He said the driver was fine, but a little shaken up.
When asked if investigators found a bullet Capt. Inzana said: “I don’t know what the technicians have found. I don’t know what evidence has been collected.”
Capt. Inzana also advised drivers, “Just be aware of your surroundings. We’re doing everything to make sure drivers are safe and obviously if something does happen, get off the expressway, call 911 and report it.”
