Windstream moves into Midtown

Updated: Thursday, October 10 2013, 08:24 PM EDT

Rochester, N.Y. - More than construction workers are now at Midtown in downtown Rochester.

Windstream is moving in and employees will begin working out of their new location on Monday

It's been over a year in the making, boxes of office supplies were moved into the Old Seneca building at the former site of Midtown.

The Rochester based company is doing the first round of moving in.

Seventy people from the out works equipment division of Windstream will start working in the new building on Monday - eventually the building will house 300 employees.

“It's been a long process from when we first talked about moving downtown to now,” said Chris Hasenauer, VP GM of the Allworx Equipment Division. “It's been several years so it looks, it's exciting we've been thinking about it for a long time. The scale here compared to what we had at our old location it's just amazing. We had grown so fast we were kind of stuffed in and jammed in where we were before. Now we've got room to grow here the labs are much bigger the space is bigger its better it's just a nice atmosphere overall.”

Windstream used the steel and the original floor of the building.

Windstream is the first company to move into Midtown.
