New York – Two men pleaded guilty Tuesday to drug charges in relation to an international cocaine trafficking ring, Attorney General Eric Schneiderman announced.
Michael Novick and Richard Bernal of Wappingers Falls in Dutchess County are both facing prison time after being arrested as part of an investigation called “Operation Snowfall”. Three others arrested had their cases adjourned until September.
Novick and Bernal both pled guilty to criminal possession of a controlled substance.
“My office is committed to keeping New Yorkers safe by being both tough and smart on crime,” Attorney General Schneiderman said in a statement. “That’s why we conducted Operation Snowfall – to take down a massive criminal enterprise that trafficked large volumes of cocaine across New York State. And today, two of the individuals who endangered New Yorkers by polluting our communities with dangerous and illegal drugs are facing prison for their crimes.”
The drug ring moved cocaine between New York City and Dutchess County and funneled money to the Dominican Republic.
