Collegetown excitement grows

Updated: Wednesday, August 27 2014, 11:11 AM EDT

Rochester, N.Y. -- As thousands of students moved into the University of Rochester on Tuesday, there's a buzz on campus about Collegetown project.

13WHAM is told construction is on schedule and Collegetown is ready to "officially" open to the public in mid-October.

The corner of Elmwood and Mt. Hope is now transformed from how it used to look back in 2012 before construction.

Some other areas nearby are already seeing a benefit in student foot traffic such as Chipotle, Starbucks and Bunga Burger.

Barnes and Noble and a few other shops will open on October 16.

Aside from the bookstore there will be bakeries, a bank and hotel.

The hotel is slated to be completed in 2015.
