D&C to relocate to Midtown

Rochester, N.Y. - The Democrat and Chronicle announced Tuesday its new headquarters will be at the Midtown site at the corner of Main St. and South Clinton Avenue.
“My opinion would be too close to the road and less space,” said Eddie Poole of Rochester, “I think they need to go reevaluate once again before they make that move.”
Gerard DiMarco of Winn Development, the company developing the Sibley building across the street, also hopes they reevaluate the location.
“I think it's more important to fill existing space before new structures are built,” said DiMarco, “we should be given the opportunity to give them the price that would be better than at any new construction site.”
A letter of intent has been signed with specific details subject to finalization of business terms.
The site is being developed by the Pike Development Company based in Rochester.
The space will serve as home for the Democrat and Chronicle Media Group’s news, advertising, marketing, digital strategy and business operations, as well as the regional headquarters for Gannett US Community Publishing’s East Group.
The company will keep its production facility located in Greece.
The Demcorat and Chronicle plans to lease about 42,000 square feet of space on the first and second floors of the new building.
Additional details, including timing of relocation, are not determined at this time, but the company plans to enter into a long term lease for the new facility.
