MONROE COUNTY, N.Y. – Happy Valentine’s Day! Valentine’s Day symbolized love for many who celebrated the holiday.
Jon Freling with Wisteria Flower and Gifts was on a mission to deliver beautiful arrangements.
“They’re very glad to see us and a lot of the ladies want to talk,” said Freling. “You got to go to the next one, you got to keep plugging, but like to talk.”
Back at Wisteria Flower and Gifts, it was less talking and more working. Jennifer Ralph said it’s one of their busiest delivery days, but she doesn’t mind working because of the pretty flowers.
She jokingly said, “It’s hard to work around such beautiful stuff. No, it’s great, we love it.”
Stores like Wegman’s went all out in their Valentine’s Day displays. Glenn Pryor who is shopping for his girlfriend says it’s a one stop shop for him, but don’t call him a last minute shopper, he says this was his plan.
“Unless you’re going to mail them to your girlfriend or significant other you can’t really buy them in advance,” said Pryor. “They’ll spoil so you have to buy them the day of.”
Sweets were another way to win lover’s hearts. Shoppers were in Andy’s Candies for heart adorned treats. One mom was still thinking about her family’s health.
“They’re kind of chubby now so I’d like to get them to eat more fruit,” said Rachel Scott. “I was looking for some chocolate covered fruit so they can have the best of both worlds.”
Some couples really expressed their love this holiday, even taking the opportunity to tie the knot.
Kimberly and Rodney Jiggetts were one of seven couples who got married this Valentine’s Day at Rochester’s City Hall.
The couple has been together for 14 years and sealed their marriage on February 14, 2014.
Rodney said, “It’s been a long time coming and we really care for each other, so it’s a special day to do it on this day.”
Kimberly added while laughing, “That means double gifts for me.”
