Rochester, N.Y. -- Mayor Lovely Warren met Tuesday with educators from all over Monroe County and from local colleges and universities.
The meeting follows Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s decision to make universal pre-K a part of his state budget.
But the mayor said Rochester was shortchanged in state aid compared to Buffalo and Syracuse, and has formed an early education commission to make sure, according to her, the same thing doesn’t happen when state and federal pre-K dollars are doled out.
The commission will also secure private grants.
Mayor Warren expects to announce the 20 members on the commission at a later date.
