Penfield, N.Y. -- A Perinton man working on his truck was killed Monday morning after becoming trapped underneath the vehicle.
Sheriff's deputies said the accident happened on Panorama Trail between Penfield Road and Browncroft Boulevard.
According to a close family friend, Michael McNulty, 58, owned a local landscaping business.
Two of his employees were out plowing when the truck they were driving broke down. They called McNulty to help them. According to deputies, the truck was off and to the side of the road when he got to it.
McNulty got under the truck to fix it while his employees directed traffic.
That’s when deputies say it rolled and he got caught up in the mechanics of the vehicle.
“It was a mechanical failure and the vehicle did roll back and he sustained injuries,” said Captain Robert Clar. “As far as the actual mechanics of what happened, it's still under investigation and I have some people will be taking a look at that and the vehicle will be secured so we can have a mechanical report done on it.”
Deputies aren't sure what the initial problem was with the truck.
They said the employees told them it was making a lot of noise and stopped working.
