Rochester, N.Y. - Ralph Strong Jr., the man convicted in a double homicide and shooting a police officer last year, has received the maximum sentence - life in prison without the possibility of parole.
The sentence was handed down Tuesday in a Rochester courtroom.
Police officers in the courtroom burst into applause at the news.
Strong killed two men outside of a Rochester nightclub last year. Three days later, he led police on a high-speed chase that ended in a shootout.
During the incident, Rochester Police Sergeant Flamur Zenelovic was shot twice. He has since recovered.
