Rochester, N.Y. – The Blue Cross Arena was full of young people Monday to get pumped over summer jobs at a rally hosted by Mayor Lovely Warren and County Executive Maggie Brooks.
The “kick-up” rally brought one thousand young people to the arena.
The young workers are taking part in the city’s summer of opportunity and RochesterWorks! Summer youth employment and career exploration programs.
“It gives them the opportunity to learn responsibility and accountability over the summer – and earn some money. I think many of them come from some challenging households, so it would give them the opportunity to earn some money to buy back to school clothes but also save money. To save for a rainy day. So I am hopefuly they take heed to that,” Mayor Warren said.
The program continues through the middle of August.
