The storm that hit southern states has moved its way up the east coast.
The snow started falling early Friday morning at a rate of 1 to 2 inches per hour in New York City.
The nation’s capital was a ghost town Thursday after nearly a foot of snow fell.
Government buildings and schools closed.
Traffic on the highways in Washington moved slowly since everyone was told to stay home if possible.
