13WHAM's Justin Carter goes 'Over the Edge'
Rochester, N.Y. - 21 stories high, 309 feet up. 13WHAM's Justin Carter faced his fears and rappelled off of the First Federal Plaza in downtown Rochester Friday.
"That adrenaline rush that you get repelling down the outside of this building isn't much different than the adrenaline rush that [boy scouts] get repelling down a climbing wall at camp," said Stephen Hoitt of the the Seneca Waterways Council Boy Scouts of America.
The Seneca Waterways Boy Scouts of America organizes the fundraising event called "21 Stories for Scouts" each year.
It allows the organization to supply gear, books and camping opportunities for scouts who do not have the ability to participate independently.
"Most of these kids are coming out of a single family home and not a lot of support or materials," Hoitt said. "It's an opportunity for us to work with the kids, develop family, character and leadership skills."
The event raised about $60,000 for the cause.
