Current warnings and advisories in WNY

Rochester, NY - A Winter Storm Warning has been issued for Monroe, Livingston, Wayne, Ontario, Wyoming, and Yates Counties through 4 AM Thursday.

A Winter Weather Advisory will be in effect for Orleans and Genesee Counties during the same time period.

As part of the warning, the Ontario County Sheriff's Office has issued a No Unnecessary Travel advisory due to hazardous driving conditions. This is not mandatory, but is meant to warn drivers that if it is essential to drive, they should do so with caution.

Seneca County Sheriff Timothy Luce is issuing a travel advisory for Seneca County. Roads are open but covered in snow and slippery. The travel advisory will be in place until midnight.

A storm system will through the area today. Snow will continue for much of the day, but it will taper slightly through the mid-to-late afternoon.

Expect between 4-8" of snow through the course of the day. Areas east of Rochester may end up on the upper end of that range. Some towns to the west could be on the lower end of that range.

A northeast wind from Lake Ontario may also add some lake enhanced snow tonight, which could add another couple of fluffy inches mainly close to Lake Ontario.
