(WHAM) - The flooding and high water levels across the greater Rochester and Finger Lakes regions led area officials to issue advisories.

The Ontario and Yates County Sheriffs issued a boating advisory for Canandaigua and Honeoye Lakes, asking any boaters to drive at a maximum of five MPH while they are within 200 feet of shore.

Boating advisories were also issued for Keuka and Seneca Lakes, in case of floating tree limbs, stumps or other hidden obstructions.

In Orleans County, additional resources are being requested from the state - including sand bags and technical assistance. Approximately 90 tons of sand has been shipped into the towns of Carlton, Kendall and Yates as needed.

Work crews from the Orleans County Jail are also being made available to make sand bags should more flooding occur.

A special state of emergency remains in effect in Wayne County for all bays and harbors.

The pronouncement made Wednesday applies to Sodus Bay, Port Bay, East Bay, Blind Sodus Bay, Pultneyville Harbor and Bear Creek Harbor in Wayne County.
