Attempt at Lilac Festival world record falls short - but still sets record
Rochester, N.Y. (WHAM) - An attempt at a Guinness World Record fell short in Highland Park Friday morning.
Organizers at the Lilac Festival were trying to break the record for longest hug relay.
They were able to 596 huggers in the park during the morning hours, but fell short. The current Guinness World Record is held by Mexico City with 1,298 relay huggers.
The good news that comes out of this? This sets a new U.S. record.
The Lilac Festival will run through May 21.
