Blood drive hosted Thursday in Monroe County Office building
Rochester, N.Y. (WHAM) - Monroe County Executive Cheryl Dinolfo will be hosting a blood drive with the American Red Cross Thursday.
The blood drive will be in the Monroe County Office Building on West Main Street from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. in the atrium.
Anyone from the public is invited to come down and donate blood.
The need for blood is especially poignant in light of the events of the last few weeks, with Hurricanes Harvey, Irma and Maria devastating entire islands and states, along with the horrifying mass shooting in Las Vegas Sunday night.
“In times of tragedy we are often reminded just how critical it is that we as everyday citizens take the time to donate blood,” said Dinolfo. “Whenever and wherever you see crisis or heartbreak, you will also find the dedicated men and women of the American Red Cross there helping to save lives."
Donors can make an appointment by calling (585) 753-1000. Walk-ins will also be accepted throughout the day.
A quicker pre-screening process can be completed using RapidPass, which sets up the pre-donation reading and health history questionnaire online.
You can donate blood if you previously donated on or before August 10, 2017.
