Canandaigua, N.Y. (WHAM) - The stalled resort construction on Canandaigua Lake could soon get some help from the state.

This week, Canandaigua City Council members approved a measure which would allow them to apply for a state grant of up to $750,000 for the Finger Lakes Resort Project.

For the last two years, the $60 million project has been at a standstill.

If approved, the money would go toward creating jobs for low-to-moderate income people.

The Council should have an idea on whether they will be approved for the grant funding by the end of September.

If the city gets a receipt of approval, they have two years to complete the project.

Back in February, developers David Genecco and Bob Murphy made their pitch for $4 million in city funding at an open finance committee meeting.
