Case of Rochester mother accused of killing infant waived to grand jury
Rochester, N.Y. (WHAM) - The case of a Rochester woman accused of murdering her ten-day-old son will go in front of a grand jury.
Police said Markiya Mitchell, 25, admitted to leaving her son, Jeremiah, alone in the bathtub to drown Monday at her home on Locust Street.
A court appearance scheduled for Friday morning was adjourned after the case was waived to a grand jury.
Jeremiah died at the hospital.
Mitchell also has a seven-year-old child who is now being cared for by other family members.
