ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHAM) - A convicted Level 2 sex offender was arrested Tuesday in Rochester for having child pornography.

Michael Krepp, 58, is accused of downloading and sharing several images of child pornography, both online and on digital media.

Between September 9, 2017, and January 22, 2018, an undercover FBI Special Agent discovered multiple files containing videos and images of child pornography. The IP address from which the files were being shared was traced back to Krepp.

Digital media recovered from Krepp in February 2018 contained child pornography.

Krepp was convicted of raping a 16-year-old girl in July 2006. He served four years in state prison and was released in July 2013.

Krepp was arrested and charged with receipt and distribution of child pornography. He appeared in federal court and is currently in federal custody.

Prosecutors say Krepp faces up to 40 years in federal prison if convicted.
