According to Sergeant Robert Murphy of the Monroe County Sheriff's Office, someone passing by a rental property at 79 Ballantyne Road called to report the fire around 5:08 a.m.
Sergeant Murphy said the fire started in the basement of the rental property, which is currently unoccupied. No one has been hurt.
They do not yet know the cause.
Traffic was diverted for hours at Jefferson Road and Scottsville Road near Ballantyne.
The deputy fire chief told 13WHAM news the fire led to a partially caved in first floor.
Crews later demolished the home.
