DeMay Hotel demolition begins Thursday
Greece, N.Y. (WHAM) - An historic building in Greece came down after years of sitting vacant.
Crews started demolition Thursday morning on the old DeMay Hotel on Latta Road.
Greece Town Supervisor said someone obtained a demolition permit Thursday for the hotel.
In January, there was discussion about potential development on the grounds.
Reid Petroleum of Buffalo indicated that it wanted to tear down what remains of the old hotel and build a Crosby’s gas station and convenience store. A Dunkin’ Donuts with a drive-thru would be included in the same building.
Those plans never materialized.
There are no development proposals that have been submitted to the town at this point, so it remains unknown what the next step will be for the grounds.
