Deputies: Farm worker pistol whipped, beaten & robbed
Castile, N.Y. (WHAM) - Investigators in Wyoming County and Livingston County are searching for additional suspects after a farm worker was abducted and beaten.
Wyoming County Sheriff's deputies arrested 30-year-old Zoraida Rodriguez and charged her with kidnapping 2nd, robbery 1st and assault 2nd.
On Sunday night, investigators say Rodriguez and several other suspects lured the man out of his home on Rt. 39 in Castile around 10 p.m. The suspects then pistol whipped, beat, and robbed the man of his cell phone and money.
The victim was then driven around for about 30 minutes before the suspects stopped along a road in Nunda. When they stopped, the victim was able to run into a field and get help. His injuries, most of which were facial, were non-life threatening.
Rodriguez was arraigned in the Town of Gainesville Court and had bail set at $250,000 cash or $500,000 bond.
“The arrest of Zoraida Rodriguez is just the beginning in resolving this case," Wyoming County Sheriff Greg Rudolph said. "The investigation is ongoing as more information is being developed into the identities of the other suspects and additional arrests are forthcoming."
