Deputies: South Bristol home possibly hit by lightning

South Bristol, N.Y. - Deputies say a South Bristol home was possibly hit by lightning Sunday.

It happened on Williams Road around 7:00 p.m.

According to deputies, multiple fire departments responded when a neighbor reported smelling smoke after hearing a loud lightning strike nearby.

The same neighbor then called police after seeing smoke near the roof of the residence.

The fire was contained to a section of the roof and the house is still livable.

No firefighters were injured while battling the fire.

RG&E responded to the area for downed power lines.
