Man dies after truck collides with 10-wheeler in Stafford

STAFFORD, N.Y. (WHAM) - One man has died following a serious crash involving at 10-wheel garbage truck in the Town of Stafford Friday morning.

According to the Genesee County Sheriff's Office, the crash happened at the intersection of State Route 5 and Clipnock Road in Stafford. It was called in at 6:24 a.m.

A man in his 20s was reportedly driving a pickup truck west on Route 5 and the garbage truck was traveling east on Route 5 when they reportedly collided head-on.

The man driving the pickup truck was unresponsive at the scene and taken to United Memorial Medical Center, where he later passed away.

Mercy Flight could not be called in due to the weather.

The driver of the garbage truck was uninjured.

The cause of the accident is still under investigation, although officials say weather could have been a factor.

The fire department, Genesee County Emergency Management and the State BEC are on scene along with deputies.
