Canandaigua, N.Y. (WHAM) - A pickup truck driver hit and killed a horse overnight in a road in West Bloomfield, according to Ontario County Sheriff's deputies.

Investigators said this happened around 2:35 a.m. on County Road 14 near County Road 35.

Initially, Ontario County Sheriff's deputies were called to the intersection of the two roads for a report of horses on the highway.

James Miller, the owner of the horses, was brought in to herd them back to his property in Ionia. As the deputy was helping Miller round them up, a pickup truck came over a small crest on County Road 14. One of the four horses ran into the path of the truck, colliding with it.

The horse was killed in the collision.

Neither the driver of the pickup, Jeffery Storie, nor his passenger, Lance Gysel, were hurt in this collision. No charges were filed.

The West Bloomfield Highway Department was called in to remove the horse from the highway while members of the Ionia Fire Department assisted the scene.
