Developers ask Canandaigua city council for funding for stalled resort project
Canandaigua, N.Y. – The eyesore on Canandaigua Lake could stay an eyesore for longer than residents may have been hoping for.
Canandaigua City Council member Anita Twitchell told 13WHAM that developers for the Finger Lakes Resort Project asked the council for $4 million in funding help Tuesday night.
Twitchell said it signified that the duo is struggling to come up with the funding.
Developers David Genecco and Bob Murphy made their pitch at an open finance committee meeting.
But, Twitchell said the council itself wouldn’t grant the $4 million.
She also said, if they asked New York State for the money, the project wouldn’t see a dime at the earliest until December. And that’s if the grant went through.
The $60 million resort project has been at a standstill since the summer of 2015.
