Rochester, N.Y. (WHAM) - A state of emergency has been declared in Monroe County effective immediately on Wednesday.

As a result of the declaration, a commercial traffic ban is now in effect. This officially restricts the travel of high-profile vehicles in Monroe County until 8 p.m.

"High-profile vehicles" include tractor trailers or other large scale trucks, which can be susceptible to overturning in high wind events.

At least six tractor trailers have been flipped over by high gusts of wind since Wednesday morning.

All drivers of high-profile vehicles are advised to safely leave the roads on which they are traveling and park immediately.

Monroe County Executive Cheryl Dinolfo is also warning local drivers to be prepared for delays and challenging conditions during the evening commute and to take the appropriate travel precautions.

More information will be forthcoming at a news conference at 4 p.m.
