Drivers get coffee, make wishes come true in East Rochester
Rochester, N.Y. (WHAM) - Rochester is in a friendly competition with Buffalo to see who can raise more money for Make-A-Wish of Western New York.
It is neck and neck right now - and Team Rochester needs the public's help!
13WHAM's Ashley Doerzbacher teamed up with Cecily Fortunato, 7, in the Wish Star Battle.
On Thursday morning, Ashley and Cecily were at Dunkin Donuts in East Rochester, asking people to help them make wishes come true.
They were joined by the Monroe County Sheriff's Office and fellow Wish Kid Aidan Briggs and his family.
Aidan's wish was granted earlier this summer.
"When you go through activities, day after day, that are not fun and exciting for the kids," said Brian Briggs, Aidan's father. "For Aidan, missing school and sports things he wants to do, just for him to have this dream come true is just amazing."
Cecily has a message for those who may be on the fence about helping Make-A-Wish.
"There's boys and girls that are sick down there, and I think they deserve a chance to go to Disney and have fun with Make-A-Wish," she said. "Donate please."
There are plenty of ways to help; learn more on Cecily's page here.
The Wish Star Battle ends on January 6, 2017.
