Families in Naples remain without power after snowstorm
NAPLES, NY (WHAM)-Some families in Naples said they have been living without power for the past three days after last week's snowstorm hit.
The lack of power is forcing some out of their homes, others are sticking it out.
"I know when the limb fell the power flickered," said Randy Emond. His family is one of many living in the dark.
"I've tried to get a hold of NYSEG but, no response," he said. He said his frustration is mounting as he tries to get answers.
"The communication is it'll be on this time and then at this time," he added. Emond said he has not been able to get a definite answer on when the power come back on.
He said it's challenging to take care of his children, especially his 8-year-old daughter who is battling leukemia.
"We keep the hot water on the wood stove, it's important hygiene wise," he said.
The Emond's aren't the only family anxiously waiting for the power to come back on.
"We were hearing branches breaking and we knew we were in for a bit of a wait," Delena Washburn said.
She also lives in Naples. She said after being without power for 18 hours her family's priority was her husband's health.
"Him being on oxygen and needing a nebulizer treatment every few hours, without electric he can't do his treatment," she said.
Her family has been calling a motel home for the past few days. "It's just very depressing. You are stuck in a motel room, you are using what limited funds you have for the motel room," she said.
Washburn said her power was turned back on Sunday night.
However, there are customers in Naples who are still waiting. NYSEG officials said they have a lot of work ahead trying to restore all power.
