Geneseo, N.Y. (WHAM) - A Geneseo High School student was arraigned Wednesday morning on charges that he gave prescription drugs to three other players before a football game last month.

On September 22, the 16-year-old student took Oxycontin from one of his parents without the parent's knowledge or consent, then gave the pills to the other players, according to Geneseo Police Chief Eric Osganian. All three students were either 15 or 16 years old at the time.

The student is not being named at this time, but 13WHAM News can identify him as the son of a Geneseo Police officer.

A court clerk confirmed the student had been charged with three counts of endangering the welfare of a child, all Class A misdemeanors.

The student is scheduled to be back in court again on January 9, 2018.
