Twelve giant fermentation tanks are set to be sent down the Erie Canal from Albany to the Genesee Brewery in Rochester.

These huge tanks are are 20 feet wide and 60 feet tall, and they are part of a $40 million private investment by Genesee’s parent company, North American Breweries, to create one of the most advanced brewing systems in the world.

Each of the tanks being delivered has an operating capacity of 2,000 barrels of beer, equivalent to approximately 661,440 twelve-ounce beers.

Due to excessive rainfall, the shipment of the tanks have been delayed. The brewery has said the tanks could ship as soon as May 16.
